MS Dhoni ready to roar? Ex-Teammate sheds light on CSK captain’s injury

Ahead of CSK's opening game of IPL 2024 against RCB, Irfan Pathan reveals details of MS Dhoni's knee injury and the current status

Former CSK all-rounder Irfan Pathan reveals MS Dhoni’s knee is fit as it ever was ahead of IPL 2024. The Chennai Super Kings skipper underwent a knee surgery after IPL 2023, sparking concerns about his future in wicketkeeping. However, it looks like Dhoni has recovered well from the injury and is all set for the upcoming edition of IPL.

MS Dhoni’s knee ‘fit as it ever was’

Speaking on Star Sports, Pathan says he met MS Dhoni a couple of days ago. The ex-India all-rounder reveals that the CSK skipper played pickleball for two hours non-stop. He adds that it is an exciting time for fans and wonders if the vintage Mahi would also return alongside his retro look.

Last year, Dhoni said he was giving a gift to his fans with his cricket. I met with him a few days ago, he was playing pickleball for two hours non-stop. His knee was fit as it ever was. It’s an exciting time for fans; he now has his vintage old look. Will we get the vintage old Dhoni too?” Pathan says.

“His role has changed in the past two years. He comes in lower-order, plays lesser deliveries but hits the big shots, the strike rate is high. It’s a small innings but a memorable one. I think there won’t be much of a change in that this year. He will continue to play that role, and would want to contribute with his captaincy. But there won’t be complaints if he treats the fans with more,” adds the former all-rounder.

CSK Begin IPL defense against RCB

The Chennai Super Kings, the reigning champions, will kick off their title defense against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22 at the iconic Chepauk Stadium. The team began their training camp on March 2, gradually welcoming players throughout the month.
