Watch Gautam Gambhir slams broadcaster for focusing only on Virat Kohli
Gautam Gambhir created a stir on the social media by calling Virat Kohli as the better ODI finisher than MS Dhoni after Kohli's 95 helped India beat New Zealand

Not once, but two times in this World Cup, Virat Kohli has helped India finish close games in the ongoing World Cup. Naturally, the legendary batter is the darling of the nation and is trending on Twitter. Right from experts to fans, everyone is singing praises of Kohli. Joining the bandwagon is Gautam Gambhir, who has hailed Kohli as the better finisher than MS Dhoni.

Gautam Gambhir said, “There is no better finisher than Virat Kohli. A finisher is not only those who bat at No.5 or No.7 – he is a chase master”, Gambhir said to Star Sports.

With the back against the walls, Kohli yet again showed his masterclass while chasing. Mixing caution with aggression, the 35-year-old formed two vital partnerships with KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, to guide India to a four-wicket victory.

While Kohli could not stay till the end to finish the 274-run chase, his 95 was the major cornerstone of India’s fifth victory in the World Cup.

This was also Kohli’s 28th century while chasing, a record even Sachin Tendulkar does not boast of. Gambhir lauded the fact that Kohli handles the pressure of run chase well than even the Mr Cool MS Dhoni. While the CSK batter has batted at number 7 in the ODIs and remained unbeaten in most of the run chases, Gambhir feels a finisher word is not often used to the batters batting higher up the order.

India march along as Virat Kohli powers the team to a fifth WC win

Kohli’s 95, Jadeja’s unbeaten 39, and Rohit Sharma’s quickfire 46 helped India to win their fifth match of the WC. India, who had come into the match to break the New Zealand jinx, finally managed to break it by holding their nerve in the close run chase in Dharamshala.
