Mohammed Siraj gets into verbal fight with Harry Brook after batting assault

Brook had been dropped for the second time in the innings, an over prior, after Siraj got into a verbal altercation with him in the 86th over.

Mohammed Siraj was disappointed. He had bowled beautifully on the second day of the India vs England 1st Test but failed to take a wicket. After toiling hard on the third day, Siraj finally got a wicket. England’s captain Ben Stokes was his victim. But India still wasn’t ahead in the game.

He had bowled tirelessly but in 21 overs, he was only able to get one wicket. Several pokes and misses, miscues, and edges were induced, but nothing was going in his favour. And then in his 22nd over, Harry Brook decided to take him on. The batter was riding his luck.

Siraj vs Brook at Headingley

He had been caught on a no-ball and was dropped twice already. Siraj had the new ball in hand and Brook wanted to disrupt his line and length. So he stepped out and whacked him. Brook had already taken the pacer for 10 runs in 4 overs in the 86th over. But Siraj bounced back to deliver an exceptional ball that decked him back and hit Brook in the elbow.

The batter was hurt and stepped away. Siraj stared at him and said a few words, but Brook seemed uninterested. He signalled for the pacer to return to his mark and keep bowling. Siraj wasn’t happy with this either. The moment riled the pacer up. But it didn’t turn out the way India wanted it to.

In the remaining two balls of the over, Siraj conceded 8 runs. Two fours. One a leg bye and another a crunchy cut towards deep point. Luckily for India, he holed out soon. And India got a reprieve after giving Brook three chances.
