Mohammed Kaif makes baffling picks for T20 World Cup, omits Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh from squad

According to Kaif, India should pick more all-rounders to provide themselves with more depth down the order.

With IPL 2024 going on in full flow, there are a lot of speculation about which players might make the India team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. While many experts have their own opinion about who should be included in the squad, former India batter Mohammed Kaif has given his take on how India should shape up in the T20 World Cup.

According to Kaif, India should pick more all-rounders to provide themselves with more depth down the order. Keeping that in mind, Kaif has picked both Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja in his playing XI.

What is even more baffling is that Kaif has omitted lower order batter Rinku Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson from the India squad altogether. Although KL Rahul, another keeper-batter appears on Kaif’s squad, he has been kept out of the Playing XI by Kaif.

Yashasvi Jaiswal will open alongside Rohit Sharma. Then Virat Kohli at No. 3, Suryakumar Yadav at No. 4, Hardik Pandya at No. 5, and Rishabh Pant at No. 6,” he said.

I will keep a lot of all-rounders because you need batting depth. So I will say Axar Patel at No. 7 and Ravindra Jadeja at No. 8. After that, Kuldeep Yadav, who is a skillful bowler, at No. 9. Then two fast bowlers – Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh. That makes it your XI,” Kaif explained.
