In what can be a setback for Mayank Yadav, the pacer is unlikely to be included in India’s squad for IND vs ENG T20Is. The express bowler suffered a back injury last year and has been recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) since then. The five-match T20I series against England will commence on January 22.
No Mayank Yadav for IND vs ENG T20Is
As per Times of India, a BCCI source revealed that Mayank was still recovering from a back injury and is unlikely to be fit in time for IND vs ENG T20Is. Additionally, the pacer has not been named in Delhi’s probable squad for their first match of the second leg of Ranji Trophy which kicks off from January 23. In all likeliness, Yadav is expected to be seen in action next only in IPL 2025.
“He is suffering from a back injury and is unlikely to be fit for the England series. He hasn’t even been named amongst the probables of Delhi’s first Ranji match of the second leg against Saurashtra from January 2023,” a BCCI source said.

Yadav last featured in the T20I series against Bangladesh at home in 2024.The injury prone pacer, who grabbed eyeballs with his 150+ kmph deliveries in IPL, was ruled out mid-way through the tournament due to injury. He returned to action in the series against Bangladesh in 2024, only to pick up another injury after the series. Subsequently, he skipped the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well.
Meanwhile, the selectors are expected to pick the squad for IND vs ENG T20Is in a couple of days. The provisional squad for Champions Trophy and IND vs ENG ODIs are expected to be picked only after January 18-19 as the BCCI plans to request the ICC for an extension, given that the deadline for teams to submit their provisional squad for the marquee event is January 12.
