IND-A vs SL-A: And the second day of the unofficial 1st Test at Galle comes to an end with the hosts fighting back with 113/2; trailing by 339 runs. All thanks to Nuwanidu Fernando’s 65, that SLA could reach this far, without much hiccups. But then the day belonged to Dhruv Jurel, who went on to score 141 not out in the first innings.

Jurel leads from the front

On a rain-affected day, Dhruv Jurel looked in complete command and went on to score a massive 100. India A resumed their innings on 333/4 on Day 2 of the 1st unofficial Test between India A and Sri Lanka A in Galle on Friday. A 132-run knock from Sai Sudharsan on Day 1 allowed the hosts to dominate the proceedings on the opening Day. While Devdutt Padikkal failed as he was sent packing after scoring just 12 runs, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s stay in the middle was also short as he managed to score just 22 runs. It was then captain Dhruv Jurel and Shaik Rasheed who steadied the ship for India, staying unbeaten on 141. Rasheed scored 63.

India A get early wickets

Anshul Kamboj and Yash Thakur managed to reduce the SLA side to 38/2, before the fightback from Nuwanidu and Bandara started. Not that the Indian bowlers did not have any answers, but they eased into the last session perhaps, giving a few scoring opportunities to the opposition.

Sri Lanka A managed to get just 4 wickets while conceding 333 runs on Day 1. While the bowlers managed to restrict the flow of runs in the 1st session, they failed to take wickets at regular intervals and allowed the India A batters to settle down. Therefore, runs started to flow more freely in the 2nd and 3rd sessions.
Now, Sri Lanka A will have to strike multiple times in the 1st session on Day 2 if they want to stop India A from piling more runs and misery. So far, Dilum Sudeera has bagged two wickets, while Fernando and Gunasekara have taken one wicket each.
