However, three consecutive home wins at Ahmedabad and a top-two position still in play give them enough to push for tonight. Shubman Gill has 552 runs at a strike rate of 160 and is the batting engine heading into the knockouts. The concern is Sudharsan. Narendra Modi Stadium Pitch Report

The Narendra Modi Stadium has been an outlier this season. Most IPL 2026 venues have been run-heavy. Ahmedabad hasn't. There's enough seam movement for pace bowlers and considerable grip and turn for spinners.
A total of 170-180 is a challenging first-innings score on this surface. That's a striking shift from the 220-plus scores the venue was producing early in the season. The pitch has slowed and tightened, and GT have used that expertly, setting sub-170 totals in back-to-back home games and defending both.
For CSK, the surface isn't entirely bad news. Hosein and Noor on a gripping track could be their best weapon. The problem is getting there. GT's pace unit will move the ball early, and CSK's middle order has shown in recent games that it struggles when early wickets fall.
