DC vs GT, IPL 2026: In what was the closest match of the season, Gujarat Titans went on to register their first win, by beating Delhi by 1 run only. In the last over drama. David Miller and Vipraj Nigam scored 11 runs, but a wicket by Prasidh Krishna, and a run out changed the match in favour of GT. And with this, Shubman Gill’s team has climbed up to sixth position in IPL point table.

In the first innings, despite losing Sai Sudharsan early, Shuman Gill (70) and Jos Buttler (52) scored fifties and took the score to 79. Thereafter, Washington Sundar combined with Gill to stitch a 100-run partnership. Washi also managed to get his maiden fifty in the tournament, after having played 69 matches. As for bowling, it was a poor effort at home by Delhi, overall.

Vipraj Nigam gave away 23 runs in the only over he bowled. Kuldeep Yadav returned with figures of 1/42, while Mukesh Kumar was poor with 2/55 in his quota.

Topsy-turvy chase

At one stage DC were well-poised in the chase, scoring 100-odd runs in 10 overs. KL Rahul got to his 41st fifty in the tournament, but then Rashid Khan picked up two back-to-back wickets, to bring his team back in the match. He ended with excellent figures of 3/17. But Siraj, Ashok Sharma and Prasidh Krishna were mighty expensive. Even in the last over, PK wasn’t at his best — but somehow managed to win the match, when DC needed 2 from 2.

The Arun Jaitley Stadium typically offers a batting-friendly black soil pitch with good bounce and short boundaries (around 65m square, 68m straight). It favours stroke-makers and produces high-scoring games. Average first-innings scores hover around 170-200 in recent T20s/IPL matches. However, in the only game played at this venue in IPL 2026, it offered a slow pitch, making it difficult to play strokes. Mumbai Indians could only manage 162/6.
