KL Rahul ruled out of India vs Pakistan, Nepal Asia Cup 2023 clashes

The Wicketkeeper-batter will remain at NCA and will miss on Kandy leg of Asia Cup 2023. This includes India vs Pakistan and India vs Nepal clashes.

KL Rahul is making excellent progress but won’t be ready for India’s opening two Asia Cup 2023 matches against Pakistan and Nepal. This was confirmed by Rahul Dravid, head coach of Team India.

The Wicketkeeper-batter will remain at NCA and will miss on Kandy leg of Asia Cup 2023. This includes India vs Pakistan and India vs Nepal clashes.

“KL Rahul is progressing really well but will not be available for India’s first two matches – against Pakistan and Nepal – of the Asia Cup 2023,” Rahul Dravid announced at the press conference on Tuesday.

Shreyas Iyer fit, KL Rahul to remain at NCA

The India Cricket Team will breathe a sigh of relief as the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 match approaches in just a few days. Shreyas Iyer, the designated No. 4 batter, is ready to play after passing the fitness test.

KL Rahul will not be part of the major IND vs PAK matchup. Rahul will play match simulations at NCA and the decision on his role will be taken on September 4.

When the Asia Cup camp in Alur, Bengaluru, is over on Tuesday, Rohit Sharma and company will depart for Sri Lanka.

Shreyas Iyer began therapy in June after having back surgery in London. There were only three months until the Asia Cup 2023, and things did not seem promising.

But in a practice game organized by the National Cricket Academy, Shreyas made good development and scored 199. He aced the yo-yo exam in the Asia Cup training facility.

So who will replace KL Rahul? Sanju Samson continues to serve as the traveling reserve, leaving Ishan Kishan as the sole keeper. KL Rahul batted for a while in recent camp, but Kishan spent more time at the stumps.

Insidesport

The southpaw has proven his value by starting India’s innings. However, it is likely that Ishan Kishan will start India’s innings alongside Rohit Sharma.

The Indians may gain from this in turn. Until recently, India’s traditional opening pair was Rohit and Shubman Gill, but with the addition of a left-hander, using the left-right-handed combination will be advantageous for India.
