Gurbaz left ailing mother to rejoin KKR camp

The Afghan wicketkeeper-batter gave KKR a good start with his 14-ball 23 which pushed the momentum in the Knights’ favour. Not long ago, Gurbaz had left the KKR camp to be beside his ailing mother. On Tuesday, Gurbaz revealed that his mother is still unwell. But since KKR needed the services of him with Phil Salt leaving, he decided to come back.

My mother is still unwell and in the hospital but KKR is also my family. When they said they needed me as Salt is leaving, I had to come back,” Gurbaz said after the match.

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and decided to bowl first. Mitchell Starc’s fine bowling display restricted SRH to just 159 runs. Chasing 160, KKR easily achieved the target with over 6 overs remaining. Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer both scored half-centuries each after notable contributions from the KKR openers.
