Jasprit Bumrah has continued his dominance over Joe Root, the number one ranked Test batter in the world. In 25 innings, Bumrah has gotten the better of Root ten times. In the India vs England 1st Test as well, the pacer got the better of the former Three Lions captain.
Whether it be in England or India, Bumrah has troubled the world’s best batter. Last year, he got Root thrice in subcontinent conditions and the next time both crossed paths, Bumrah came out on top as well. Having bowled plenty of overs before Root came out to bat, the unorthodox pacer didn’t get many cracks at him early.
But just before the second day was about to end, Bumrah came on and dismissed Root. And in a similar fashion. The batter looked to guide the ball to point, his bread-and-butter shot, but as is his ability, the pacer got the ball to straighten. Karun Nair claimed an easy catch at first slip, and it was curtains for Root.

The pacer made an error himself in the final over of the day after getting Harry Brook caught off a front-foot no-ball.
But Bumrah ensured that England’s best batter, Root, didn’t stay in the middle for long. Earlier, Mohammed Siraj had bowled well at Root and then Bumrah finally got his prized wicket.
