But it’s now official.

“We may have lost the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup. But we won hearts thereby winning 10 matches in a row. I am confident that India will lift the 2024 T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy at Barbados,” Jay Shah said at a function in Rajkot to rename the stadium after former BCCI chief Niranjan Shah.

Not Hardik Pandya

With Rohit Sharma on a break from T20Is, Hardik Pandya was the leader of India T20I team. The speculations were rife about India captain for T20 World Cup when Mumbai Indians replaced Rohit with Hardik for IPL 2024. But as Rohit will play under Hardik at Mumbai Indians, Hardik will have to play under Rohit in India Cricket Team once again.

The formal announcement came after BCCI Selection Committee chief Ajit Agarkar met with Rohit Sharma on the sidelines of IND vs ENG 3rd Test.

While there was a hint of Rohit’s return after he led India in the T20 series against Afghanistan. Now, with the BCCI secretary confirming it, India will aim to end ICC trophy drought at T20 World Cup 2024.
