Cometh the hour, cometh the man! Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah on Sunday once again proved why he is irreplaceable when he scalped three crucial wickets to help India defend 120 runs in the IND vs PAK tie in T20 World Cup 2024. Bumrah, due to his crucial wickets at important junctures of the match, was awarded the Man of the Match. This was his fifth MoM in ICC events, the most by any Indian bowler.

Jasprit Bumrah: A wicket in every spell
Bumrah came to bowl the third over in the tie that was largely in Pakistan’s grasp after Babar Azam and co bowled India out of 119. Needing 120 runs at run-a-ball, Pakistan openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were cruising.
However, Bumrah removed Babar in his first spell, got the better of Rizwan who was looking set in his second. He then came back in his third spell to send Iftikhar Ahmed back to the pavillion and tilted the tie in India’s favour.

Bumrah was rightfully adjudged the player of the match. Bumrah is as close to ‘Mr Dependable’ as it gets when it comes to ICC tournaments. His 5th Man of the Match award in ICC event stands testimony to this fact. With the 5th in his kitty, Bumrah moved past Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami who all have 4 MoM awards to show.
