Ishan Kishan on bench again! As KS Bharat to retain his position in Test squad

Ishan Kishan hasn't played in a Test yet, despite being one of the top prospects to start the batting in limited overs cricket.

IND vs WI: Will Ishan Kishan warm the bench again during West Indies Test series? That’s the question which is in everyone’s mind. With KS Bharat set to retain his position in squad, it will be interesting to see, who Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharama will go with in the two Test matches in Caribbean.

According to Cricbuzz, KS Bharat, the Andhra Pradesh wicketkeeper, may continue to be a member of the Test squad despite his underwhelming batting display at the Oval in the WTC Final 2023.

KS Bharat over Ishan Kishan?

KS Bharat has been selected for the South Zone team for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, which starts on June 28.

Together with West Zone, South Zone reached the tournament’s championship last year; as a result, both teams have advanced directly to the semifinal this time around.

In order to play the aforementioned teams in the semis, the remaining four teams—North Zone, East Zone, Central Zone, and North-East Zone—will square off in quarters.

Unlike KS Bharat, Kishan has reportedly chosen not to play in the Duleep Trophy, giving up an opportunity to showcase his abilities in the longest format before India’s two-Test series against the West Indies.

Kishan yet to play Test for India

Ishan Kishan hasn’t played in a Test yet, despite being one of the top prospects to start the batting in limited overs cricket. After KS Bharat’s dismal batting performance in India’s home series against Australia earlier this year, calls for him to be selected in the team for the World Test Championship (WTC) final rose.

However, for the WTC final, which they ultimately lost by 209 runs, India chose to play with Bharat as their wicketkeeper and put Kishan on the sidelines.

In 48 first-class games, Kishan has amassed 29,855 runs at an average of 38.76, with six centuries and 16 half-centuries.
