Is David Warner injured & will he play versus Gujarat Titans? Delhi Capitals coach gives update

David Warner has had an ordinary IPL 2024, having scored 166 runs in 6 matches, at an average of 27 only.

Delhi Capitals are in a precarious situation right now. They are in the ninth spot in the IPL points table after losing four matches, and winning only two. If they don’t arrest the slide in their form, they might well be out of the IPL 2024 soon. In fact, they are pushed against the wall right now. There are injury concerns, with Mitchell Marsh ousted, and now David Warner also at the risk of missing out of the next match.

Is David Warner Injured?

Addressing the media ahead of the DC vs GT, Delhi’s head coach Ricky Ponting provided an update on Warner. He went on to say that the southpaw did have a x-ray after the last match. “David did have an X-ray after the last game. That X-ray came back all clear. But, he’s got a lot of swelling around the knuckle on his left hand. We’ll give him a fitness test tomorrow morning, and keeping our fingers crossed that he’s okay.”

Will David Warner Play DC vs GT Match?

With the swelling on his hand, it looks unlikely that Warner will play the match vs GT on Wednesday. Meanwhile, speaking about the team’s campaign so far, Ponting said, “The overriding message from me to the players over the last six games is how close we’ve been. We could easily be sitting here with five wins and one loss. So, we understand how close we are and how close the tournament is, but you can’t afford to be close be good in the IPL. You’ve got to turn up and be very good every day.”

“We know we’ve got to get better in certain areas of our cricket. And trust me, we’re working really hard every day to make sure that we’re as well prepared as we can be,” he concluded.
