IPL 2025 Playoffs race: KL Rahul suffers knee injury ahead of knockout MI vs DC match

KL Rahul hit a hundred in the last match and has scored 198 more runs than DC's next best batter.

The Delhi Capitals’ (DC) luck couldn’t be any worse. First, one of their best bowlers, Mitchell Starc, opts out of returning to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, and now they may have lost their best batter, KL Rahul. The wicketkeeper has reportedly injured his knee during practice.

KL Rahul gets injured

DC are still in the IPL 2025 playoffs race. However, they need to beat the Mumbai Indians (MI) tomorrow at the Wankhede Stadium. That in itself is difficult. The Axar Patel-led side has lost 3 of their last 4 matches. While Hardik Pandya and co. have won 4 of their last 5 games.

As if that wasn’t enough, DC may have now lost KL Rahul to injury as well. Faf du Plessis has been out of form, Karun Nair isn’t even in the team anymore, and Rahul, who’s been the engine of DC’s batting engine, could be out of the do-or-die clash as well. Rahul was hit in the knee by Mukesh Kumar in the nets on the eve of the MI vs DC match.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Rahul has been Delhi’s best batter. He’s got three fifties and one hundred in 11 innings. He’s played at multiple positions and played multiple roles. He dropped anchor against the Gujarat Titans, while against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he was the aggressor. Without him by his side, Axar’s DC will be facing MI with a major disadvantage.
