IPL 2024: MI players go to Alibaug for team bonding session sans Rohit Sharma

Veteran Rohit Sharma was replaced with all-rounder Hardik Pandya as Mumbai Indians (MI) new skipper ahead of IPL 2024

Ahead of IPL 2024 season, the Mumbai Indians (MI) side will take part in a pre-season bonding session. Hardik Pandya and co have arrived in Alibaug for this exercise ahead of the commencement of the new season, sans Rohit Sharma.

There has been a change in leadership this year as MI replaced Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as the new skipper for the side.

It is to note that Rohit Sharma is missing from the video of the players’ arrival at Alibaug. As per Hindustan Times, the Indian skipper was not spotted among the MI contingent that arrived for the exercise. This adds fuel to the speculations of discontent after the Hitman was replaced as the skipper.

Hardik Pandya seeks Rohit Sharma’s backing

Even after 63 days, the new captain, who made his MI debut under Rohit Sharma, is yet to speak to his predecessor. Hardik confirmed that he will speak to Rohit when he joins MI camp on Monday.

“He has been travelling. So, we haven’t seen each other yet or have had a chance to speak. I will speak to Rohit when he joins the camp,” Hardik Pandya said at the MI Press Conference on Monday.

Hardik Pandya wants to have Rohit Sharma by his side. Hardik will have to play under Rohit in India Cricket Team in T20 World Cup 2024.

“It wont be any different, Rohit Sharma will be able to help me anytime. It won’t be awkward, I know he is always going to have a hand on my shoulders,” Hardik Pandya said.
