The RR spinner has become just the eighth bowler in the history of IPL to reach the feat. Ahswin is also the fifth spinner to achieve the milestone of 150 wickets. Carrom ball does the trick – Ashwin who was on 149 scalps had earlier dropped Rajat Patidar in his previous over, however Ashwin used his old trick of carom ball to send him pavilion. On the final ball of 10th over, a carom ball was angled in from wide of the crease, skidding on off a good length. Patidar despite staying in his crease, had a pretty loose cut, and found his off-pole uprooted.
Joins an illustrious list of players – After getting Rajat Patidar, Ashwin became the eighth bowler to reach the feat, fifth spinner to do so and sixth Indian to achieve the landmark. The list contains a string of big names like fellow World Cup-winner Harbhajan Singh, Amit Mishra, Yuzvendra Chahal and many others. Ashwin has been in fine company having started his career in 2008 with Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

New franchise, same old Ashwin – An IPL legend in his own rights, Ashwin is with a fifth different franchise in the IPL. He previously represented Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiants, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings. Ashwin even captained the Punjab Kings during his time with the franchise. In the meantime, Sunil Narine is also on the verge of the landmark as he is on 149 wickets.
