During an interview with ESPNCricinfo, Vettori stated that Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans will be two of the four teams to qualify for the IPL 2022 playoffs. He named the Lucknow Super Giants and the Royal Challengers Bangalore as his next two picks.
“Rajasthan, the two new franchises, and RCB,” he said.
“I think they have played well enough to be in this position now.”
“I think the balance in their squads will be able to get them there”, he further added.
Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals will most likely advance to the playoff round. However, predicting which two of the three franchises, Lucknow Super Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad, would qualify is difficult. Sunrisers are in second place in the points table with 10 points from seven games, making it impossible to rule them out of the playoff race.
With 10 points after seven games, including five wins and two losses, Rajasthan Royals (RR) are currently third in the IPL 2022 Points Table. To secure the deal, RR must win at least three more matches. They can also qualify for the Playoffs with 14 points, but they’ll need to improve their run rate.
Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans (GT) are leading the table with 12 points from seven games (six victories and one loss). GT needs to win two out of five games to guarantee their spot in the Playoffs.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the season’s second newcomers, are fourth in the points table with 10 points after eight games (five wins and three defeats). LSG need to win three matches out of six to qualify.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are in fifth place with 10 points from eight games (five wins and three losses). To qualify, RCB must win at least three of their remaining six matches. However, because RCB have a negative net Run Rate of -0.472, the three wins should be by wide margins.

Vettori captained RCB for 22 games, winning 12 and losing 10 of them. He took his team to the final of the Indian Premier League 2011 where they lost to Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Vettori was the eighth player in Test history to collect 300 wickets and score 3000 runs, and he captained New Zealand from 2007 to 2011. With 112 Test caps and 284 ODI caps, the former all-rounder is also the most capped player in his country’s history.
