Gavaskar speaks– Speaking on Star Sports, the former great said, “Take a single and go to the non-striker’s end.
“Don’t give him a sight of your stumps. Cover all three stumps so that when he runs in to bowl, he has got to see where is the off stump is and where is the leg stump.”
Umran running Pace-Race with Lockie Ferguson – Throughout the course of the campaign Umran and Gujarat Titans (GT) star Lockie Ferguson have been running the ‘Pace-Race’ as they compete for the fastest delivery of the tournament.
Currently, Umran holds the tag for the fastest delivery of the tournament with 154 kph, while close compatriot Lockie Ferguson is on 153.3 kph. Like the play-off race, the speed race is also expected to go down the wire as Umran and Lockie try to get the better of one another.
Umran in numbers – So far IPL 2022 has been a happy hunting ground for Umran as he has scalped 15 wickets at an average of 19.13. Alongside Yuzvendra Chahal, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) star is the only player to have picked a fifer in the IPL 2022 season.
Umran’s best figures of 25/5 came in a losing cause against Gujarat Titans (GT), where his team lost a close contest despite being in the pole position.

Umran’s form reflects on team performance – Umran along with fellow teammate T Natarajan are having some IPL as they both have scalped 32 wickets in between them. Umran on the contrary has been excellent in his displays with an economy just over 8. His superb nick of form has helped his side stay in contention for a place in the play-offs as SRH occupy fourth spot in the standings with 10 points in 9 matches.
