Why Deepak Chahar is not playing IPL 2022?
- The CSK speedster had a torn quadricep muscle injury during the home series against the West Indies.
- He was at the NCA trying to recuperate from a quadricep tear but it was later learnt that his old BACK-INJURY had resurfaced.
- The injured pacer was supposed to join CSK team in Mumbai later this week.
- But now the fresh injury has permanently ruled him out for 3-4 months and consequently out of complete IPL 2022 as well.

Chahar to receive full 14cr from CSK- Why?: Deepak, however, will get the entire amount of 14cr despite not being fit for IPL 2022.
This is primarily because of 2 Reasons:
Reason 1: Deepak Chahar is a BCCI Contracted player. All Contracted players are insured by the BCCI. The board has taken responsibilty of providing them with full contracted amounts and IPL salaries if they get injured during NATIONAL DUTY.
Reason 2: Chahar got injured while playing against Sri Lanka. His 2nd injury came during his rehab stint at NCA Bengaluru. BCCI doesn’t want players to risk injuries for the sake of playing IPL for money. All the BCCI Contracted players get insured by the BCCI.
What is BCCI’s Insurance Policy? Back in 2011, BCCI began an insurance policy for players with a central contract.
As per the insurance program, even if a player misses out due to injury, he will be eligible to receive the entire IPL salary.
Chahar is a BCCI centrally contracted player in Grade C and will receive his entire Rs 14 Crore salary. This year, BCCI has purchased an insurance policy worth Rs 5,000 Crore, 25% more than IPL 2021.

In case a non-contracted player gets injured and doesn’t play even a single game of the season, then he misses out on the entire contract amount of the season if the franchise does not compensate. As per the policy, all the centrally contracted players get compensated if they miss the IPL season irrespective of when they sustained an injury.
In case, a contracted player gets injured and ruled out during the IPL, then half of the contracted amount is paid by the BCCI while the rest of the amount is paid by the franchise.
