Cricket Australia is also expected to send a large number of players for the auction

Among the interested parties, most of the players are from England and Australia while there is an uptick in interest from Sri Lanka as well. Even though there has been a domestic rebellion against IPL after an abysmal Ashes performance, BCCI expects a large number of players from England. Many former England cricketers spoke out against IPL and neglecting domestic first-class matches.

For Australia, the IPL dates will likely clash with the Pakistan tour which will include three Tests, three ODIs and a one-off T20I. But BCCI expects no pullouts.

“We haven’t heard anything from ECB about pullout from IPL. In fact, many English players who previously skipped IPL have shown interest. As for Australians, they have been our biggest partner and hopefully all the players will be available for the entire tournament,” the BCCI official told InsideSport.

“It is too early to speak about the auction dates. We are confident that the Feb 12-13 date will be unchanged. But we are living in uncertain times due to Covid and anything can happen during this one month. There are mechanisms in place so that we can stick to the dates,” the official said.
