IPL 2022: Ashish Nehra says, ‘Mohammed Shami still a BIG FORCE in white-ball cricket, at PAR with Jasprit Bumrah’
Mohammed Shami vs Bumrah – Mohammed Shami White-Ball Career: A BCCI official was recently quoted as saying that Shami’s T20 World Cup place in the Indian squad will be on line this IPL. But Nehra completely disagrees with this statement.
His (Shami’s) ODI career is much better placed. But this IPL will be a kind of trial for him to be considered for the T20 World Cup and he also understands it. Rahul (Chahar) is an exciting prospect. This IPL will be an indicator and help the selectors on trim the pool of players,” a BCCI official told TOI.
“When it comes to Shami, I keep him absolutely on par with Jasprit Bumrah. Even when you see white-ball cricket, be it in T20 or ODIs, maybe Bumrah’s economy rate is 7.5 and Shami can be 8.2, 8.5, but look at his strike rate. He is a wicket-taker. When you have somebody like Shami and his experience, you cannot ask for anything better,” Nehra completely rebuffed the statememnt on a recent cricket show.
