3) Fatigue for Indian & Overseas Cricketers

Playing Non-Stop cricket – A number of players had pulled out of IPL 2021 Phase 2 last year. The pattern might continue amid busy international fixtures for all cricket boards. The players have to stay in a strict bio-bubble to ensure the smooth conduct of the T20 league. A number of players and support staff had contracted COVID during the India leg earlier last year.

Unfortunately, Indian players have no option but to play despite tired bodies. Indian Cricket Team usually have a tight-packed schedule. India is playing continuous cricket after a short break after T20 World Cup. They hosted New Zealand at home before travelling to South Africa for Test & ODI series. India will next host West Indies & Sri Lanka for a full-fledged tour ahead of the IPL.

International performance going down- The busy schedule has witnessed has a dip in international performance. Among recent examples, England players failed to play long in the Ashes while Quinton de Kock called quits to his Test career to focus on white-ball cricket. India too failed to live up to the challenge in T20 World Cup as the wait for the second T20 WC title continued.

BIO-BUBBLE mental fatigue for players- The bubble at times bursts as it takes a mental toll on players. Ben Stokes had pulled out for almost 6 months to take a mental break. The likes of Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson did not play in phase 2 of IPL. Meanwhile, Jonny Bairstow, Chris Woakes & David Malan had disappointed their franchises.
