Sachin Tendulkar vs Pakistan (2003 WC): Pakistan had one of the best bowling lineups in 2003. With Shoaib Akhtar, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, they had the capability to destroy any batting lineups except India’s. Chasing 274 target, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag taught Pakistan a lesson, bringing up 50 runs in just 4.4 overs. Before Sachin fell on 98, he had smashed 12 fours and a six, taking India closer to victory.

Kapil Dev 175 vs Zimbabwe (1983): Considered one of the best individual knocks, there is no video record of Kapil Dev’s 175 against Zimbabwe in the 1983 World Cup. India down to 17/5, Kapil Dev played a heroic knock of 175 off just 138 balls, taking India to 266/8. India won the match by 31 runs to stay alive in World Cup.
Ashish Nehra 6/23 vs England (2003 WC): India were in a difficult position against England. After posting just 250, India needed their bowlers to rally behind and that is what Ashish Nehra did. His spell of 10-2-23-6 is considered one of the best spells by an Indian pacer. India rode on his 6/23 to beat England by 82 runs.

MS Dhoni 91 vs Sri Lanka (2011 WC Final): Chasing 275 to win, India lost Sehwag and Sachin early in the final against Sri Lanka. With Virat Kohli also returning leaving India at 118/3, MS Dhoni played a captain’s innings. Promoting himself up the order, Dhoni scored 91 off just 79 balls. Partnering Gautam Gambhir for a 109-runs stand and 54-run partnership with Yuvraj Singh, he led India to World Cup glory with a famous six.
Anil Kumble 6/12 vs WI (1993): Defending 225 against West Indies in the Hero Cup Final in 1993, India needed a special performance and Anil Kumble rolled up his sleeves to deliver that at Eden Gardens. Anil Kumble’s 6.1-2-12-6 is the second-best bowling figure from India in ODIs as it helped bowl out Windies for 123 and win the Hero Cup.
