India set to surpass Australia to become No.1 ranked team across all formats

India are set to surpass Australia to become the number one ranked team across all formats after their win in IND vs ENG 4th Test at Ranchi

India are all set to overtake Australia to become the number 1 ranked Test side after sealing the IND vs ENG series at Ranchi. The hosts took an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series after beating the visitors by 5 wickets in the 4th Test. With this win, India will become the number one ranked team across all formats of the game.

Ahead of IND vs ENG 4th Test, both India and Australia were tied at 117 points on the rankings for the Tests. In ODIs, the Men in Blue are on top with 121 points and Australia second with 118 points. India top the chart in T20I rankings as well, with 266 points. New Zealand are behind them, with 256 points to their name so far.

IND vs ENG 4th Test

India held their nerves to register an emphatic win in the 4th Test at Ranchi. A sensational spell from Ashiwn and Kuldeep ensured India had their task cut short on Day 3. However, England fought back fiercely at the start of Day 4, grabbing five wickets.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (37) was the first to go on Day 4, with Joe Root striking. India skipper Rohit Sharma (55) raced to a half-century in the 1st session before he was dismissed by Hartley. Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan and Ravindra Jadeja perished for single-digit scores soon after.

Dhruv Jurel (39*) and Shubman Gill (52*) guided India to a comfortable victory post lunch. India beat England by 5 wickets to win the 4th Test and take a 3-1 lead in the five-match series.
