The India vs England series is finally here after a lot of wait, and while the hosts have decided on their playing XI, the visitors haven’t yet revealed their combination. Or it might just be the case of indecisiveness. On the eve of the Headingly Test, India skipper Shubman Gill told the press that the management has readied different combinations for the clash, but a final call was yet to be taken.
Who is in, who is out?
Shubman Gill said, “We have one/two different combinations ready. Will have a look at the pitch and take the call.” Meanwhile, experts have predicted that India will leave out left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh from the playing XI, with Jasprit Bumrah leading the attack with Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna.
On spin front, the lone choice will be Ravindra Jadeja, who would also be the prime all-rounder of the team. Plus, there are expectations that Shardul Thakur will be picked ahead of Nitish Kumar Reddy, because of his better bowling abilities. On the batting front, Abhimanyu Easwaran would be left out, with Sai Sudharsan and Karun Nair making the cut.
Shubman Gill Says, Combinations Ready
As far as the pitch is concerned, on first look, it holds some grass, and there could be something in it for the pacers, early on in the innings. But as has been the case for some time now, it will be again an excellent batting wicket, if the batters find a way to stay at the crease.
India’s squad: Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana.
