India’s tour of England continues to give, as the second unofficial Test between India ‘A’ and England Lions is set to begin in Northampton from today, June 6. The opening first-class game, played in Canterbury, ended in a high-scoring draw. Karun Nair was the best player in the game as he smashed a scintillating double century, his 10th domestic ton of the season. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel also spent valuable time at the crease, while Shardul Thakur impressed with the ball.
Now, India ‘A’ gets more star power as KL Rahul has joined the team and will play the second official Test at the County Ground. It would be tricky for skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran, who needs to think where to slot in Rahul. Sarfaraz Khan, who missed a well-deserved century, might have to sit out, as he’s not part of the main Indian squad for the England series. Meanwhile, the senior squad, led by Shubman Gill, has already jetted off to England.
For England Lions, their pace attack has been bolstered as well. Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue, part of the England squad for the first Leeds Test, will play against India ‘A’.
