In now viral pictures, Mohammed Siraj can also been seen hugging the 33-year-old.

Ajaz Patel picked four wickets on Day 1 of the series-deciding Test and on Saturday went on to take the remaining six wickets to register the figures of 119/10 in the innings. Earlier, England’s Jim Laker and India’s Anil Kumble had achieved the feat in 1956 and 1999 respectively.

Everyone at the Wankhede Stadium gave a standing ovation to the the 33-year-old who had earlier expressed a lot of excitement to play a Test match in the city of his birth – Mumbai. Ajaz Patel had dismissed the likes of Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane before finally getting Mohammed Siraj to register his name in the glorious history of Test cricket.

Before the match, Ajaz Patel had played 10 Test matches and taken 29 wickets from them.

A delighted Ajaz Patel had nothing to rue on Friday except for the absence of his family members in the stands.

“Quite a special occasion for me and not just me but my family. Unfortunately for me, they’re not here because of COVID. Honestly, it’s surreal and to be able to do that in my career is pretty special. The stars have aligned for me to do it in Mumbai,” Ajaz told host broadcaster Star Sports.

“I’m in very illustrious company with Kumble sir as well. Obviously, not a great start for us, but we have a few boys in the shed and put on some runs,” he added.
