Ireland almost pulled off a major upset in Dublin. Chasing a mammoth target of 226, Paul Stirling punished sluggish Indian bowling on a good batting pitch. Stirling fired 40 off just 18 balls to set the stage. He put together a 72-run opening stand to set the platform.

INDIA IRELAND 2nd T20 Highlights: While Ravi Bishnoi removed Stirling for 40 and a run-out saw Gareth Delany depart. But Andrew Balbirnie took charge, smashing 37-ball 60 to keep Ireland in the game. India fought back with Harry Tector’s wicket. But there was no stopping George Dockrell. He stitched together a 21-ball 47-run stand with Tector and then an 18-ball 32-run stand with Mark Adair.
Dockrell and Adair almost took Ireland home. But it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 18th over that turned things around. Bhuvneshwar conceded just 7 runs, keeping India in the game.

With Harshal Patel going for 14 in the 19th over, Hardik Pandya gave the ball to Umran in the last over. Umran had to defend 17 runs in the last over and despite conceding a no-ball, he held on to his nerves to seal 4-run win for India.
Although India did a harakiri in death overs, Deepak Hooda’s 57-ball 104 and Sanju Samson’s 42-ball 77 powered India to their fourth-highest total of 227/7. The score was later revised to 225/7.

Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson have brought up a World Record stand for 2nd wicket with 176. They broke the record of Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan’s 167-run partnership. Deepak Hooda also smashed his maiden T20I century to all but shut the door on Shreyas Iyer in T20Is.
