IND vs BAN: India Women’s to play five-match T20I series against Bangladesh from April 28

In the ICC Women's T20I Rankings, India are placed at the No.3 position while Bangladesh are No.9

The India Women’s Cricket team is gearing up for a five-match T20I Series against Bangladesh, set to commence on April 28. They are scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh for the IND vs BAN on April 23.

All five matches of the series will be held in Sylhet, with the first three games taking place in the main stadium and the remaining two at an outer venue. Match timings will vary, with the three games starting at 6:30 pm local time and the remaining two matches commencing at 2 pm.

Both teams consider this series vital preparation for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in Bangladesh in September. Bangladesh aims to leverage home advantage, while India seeks to capitalize on their familiarity with the conditions.

India’s second tour of Bangladesh in 3 years:

This marks India’s second tour of Bangladesh in two years and their third overall. In 2023, they played three T20Is and as many ODIs, winning the T20I series 2-1 and drawing the ODI series 1-1.

However, the previous tour ended on a contentious note, with India captain Harmanpreet Kaur facing criticism for her remarks about the umpires following the tied third ODI. As a result, she was suspended for two matches by the ICC.

“The next time whenever we are coming to Bangladesh, we’ll have to make sure we have to deal with this kind of umpiring and accordingly, we’ll have to prepare ourselves,” Harmanpreet has said.
