IND vs AUS: Border Gavaskar Trophy – Virat Kohli  missed out on half century in front of his home fans on Day 2 of India vs Australia 2nd Test. The debutant curse continued for Kohli as he was dismissed for 44 runs. Matthew Kuhnemann trapped the former skipper LBW for his first international wicket. The dismissal saw Virat Kohli entering the Hall of Shame in International cricket. Earlier in Nagpur Test  Toddy Murphy had the former skipper caught behind by wicketkeeper Alex Carey. Kohli has now been dismissed 20 times by a debutant in international cricket in 491 matches. Sachin Tendulkar tops the list being dismissed 35 times in 664 matches. The other names in the list include the likes of Mahela Jayawardene (23), Joe Root (21), Rahul Dravid (21) etc.

Kohli came out to bat at no. 5 on Day 2, following the dismissal of Cheteshwar Pujara. He along with skipper Rohit Sharma steadied the Team India’s innings until lunch. In the 53rd over post lunch, the 22-year-old started the proceedings with a ball delivered outside the leg stump. Looking for a flick shot, Kohli ended up getting a thick nick and was caught behind. Australia debutant Todd Murphy led the fightback for the team with a five-wicket haul on Day 2 of the IND vs AUS 1st Test. With the wicket of Srikar Bharat, Murphy became only the sixth bowler to pick five wickets on debut in India after Lance Klusner, Jason John Krejza, John Lever, Bruce Taylor and Yasar Arafat.  He is also just the second Australia spinner to achieve the feat on debut.

On day one, Murphy dismissed KL Rahul for 20, right before close of play. The men in blue continued to dominate on day two, with skipper Rohit Sharma and night watchman Ravichandran Ashwin in the middle. The duo put on a 42-run stand that threatened to take the game away. Murphy broke the partnership by dismissing Ashwin for a 62-ball 23. The 22-year-old also managed to dismiss Cheteshwar Pujara (7) and Virat Kohli (12) to make his debut memorable one.
