In tough spot, KSCA calls for special meeting to discuss water scarcity in Bengaluru ahead of IPL 2024

Royal Challengers Bangalore's hometown Bengaluru is currently grappling under water crisis ahead of IPL 2024

Karnataka capital Bengaluru is currently grappling with a water crisis. And there is no doubt that this could affect the upcoming IPL 2024 matches at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. RCB will take on PBKS on March 25 in Bengaluru’s first game of IPL 2024.

This leaves one wondering what miracle the KSCA can pull off. The amount of water taken to prepare a pitch for an IPL game isn’t a small amount. With such dire crisis in hand, one can only wonder how the city will gear itself up for hosting three matches in two weeks.

Bengaluru water crisis explained

The capital of Karnataka is reeling in water crisis owing to poor rainfall. The demand for water tankers across the city has increased multifold over the last few weeks.

As per reports, the charge of a water tanker used to be Rs 700-800 while it now risen to Rs 1500-1800. Despite the BWSSB assuring that there is enough supply to meet demand for the next five months, panic has gripped the people of the city.

The latter half of the IPL 2024 schedule is yet to be announced. It is expected to be unveiled after the dates of the Lok Sabha General Elections are announced by the ECI.
