Australia cricket team have been knocked out of the T20 World Cup following Afghanistan’s 8-run win over Bangladesh. Mitchell Marsh and co. suffered the first blow after a loss to India in their final Super 8 fixture. The final nail in the coffin came from the same team that defeated AUS in the Super 8 as Rashid Khan and co. created history to make it to their first-ever semi-final of an ICC event.

Following the loss, Australia skipper Marsh’s prayers for Bangladesh to win the contest against Afghanistan went unanswered as the underdogs routed Shanto and co. Bangladesh had to beat AFG by at least 61 runs in order for Australia to qualify for the semi-finals. Despite having a good run in the group stage, Australia faltered in the Super 8, losing to Afghanistan and India.
