Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar wants Afghanistan’s explosive opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz to feature more for Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) in the IPL 2024.
Talking on Star Sports, Gavaskar heaped praise on Gurbaz and claimed that the opener’s batting shows glimpse of MS Dhoni.
“I have liked Gurbaz’s batting a lot based on whatever I have seen. He is extremely aggressive, and his batting is like a slight copy of MS Dhoni, and that is why I probably like it”, Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports.
The former India captain added that Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s kind gesture towards underprivileged people is also one of the reasons why the Afghanistan player should be in KKR’s playing XI
“When the World Cup ended, after that, the job he did, he gave money to the people sleeping on the footpath. For doing that, he has to definitely be in the team for me”, Gavaskar added.
Gurbaz amassed 227 runs for KKR in 11 innings in IPL 2023. He scored two fifties, including a 81-run knock off 39 deliveries against the Gujarat Titans at the Eden Gardens.
