- Salman Khan stayed in a small tent at Mumbai’s Cross Maidan with his father (groundsman).
- The 22-year-old is currently living the dream at Mumbai’s iconic hotel at Nariman Point with CSK.
- He is now sharing the dressing room with legendary MS Dhoni and R Jadeja.
His father has rolled the pitches over the years and hopes Salman Khan to emulate the rags to riches story. Salman too hopes to change the fortunes of the family.
“One day, I got a call from a Chennai Super Kings official asking me whether I can join as a net bowler for this season. Later, I got to know my name was recommended by (Mumbai player) Tushar Deshpande,” said Salman Khan as quoted by Indian Express.
“Abu phone karke bolta hai achcha kar, tera acha hoga, toh hamara bhi hoga. Bowling mein khush kar dena. ‘I only say I will try my best,’” The Mumbai’s U-23 cricketer added.

Salman also spoke about equal treatment at the CSK franchise as he revealed that it took him some time to gain the confidence of MS Dhoni and R Jadeja.
“I spoke to Mahi bhai and Jadeja. I want to learn from them, these two months might change my life,” Salman said.
MS Dhoni’s advice to Salman Khan: ‘Salman, off-spinner ko T20 mein sab maarne hi dekhte hai, so thoda dimag se dalne ka, jyada sochne ka.’
Back home at Cross Maidan, his father is content with his son’s growth. He has witnessed Sachin Tendulkar become God of Cricket, Zaheer Khan guiding India to World Cup glory at Wankhede in his four decades as a groundsman.
- CSK are the pioneer in developing raw talents. Two current players – Mukesh Choudhary and Prashant Solanki were net bowlers for them last season.
- Salman too can also join the list in the near future which would mean both Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan will be part of IPL after the Bollywood industry.
