SRH beat KKR Highlights: Having already impressed with his searing pace in this season, the Jammu & Kashmir pacer challenged Shreyas Iyer right from his first ball as the batsman struggled against him. Shreyas managed to score just five runs off eight deliveries he faced from Malik before eventually losing his wicket in the last ball of Malik’s second over.
With just three runs scored off the over, Shreyas was under pressure to score a boundary in the last ball. He moved all around the crease to create room but exposed his stumps on the process as Malik’s 148.8 kph delivery crashed the stumps.
SRH beat KKR Highlights: Seeing the dismissal, Dale Steyn immediately jumped out of his seat and celebrated the wicket with SRH’s spin bowling coach Mutthiah Muralidaran.
Speaking about his celebration, Steyn said, “It was because of Murali. He told me that it was the time to bowl a yorker. I said no, if he bowls a yorker, he would be hit for a 4. But Umran bowls that yorker and takes that wicket. That is why I jumped and celebrated with Murali. Genius guys are at play here.”
Steyn had already spoken highly of Malik and said that he has the potential to “feature heavily” in future, in a recent question-and-answer session on his official Twitter account.
On Friday, speaking after the match about Umran Malik’s performance, Steyn said, “I am living through Umran Malik. He is bowling at 150kph. It is a culmination of a lot of hard work. I have always felt if my idol gave a pat on my back when I did well, it helped. I try to do the same.”
