Chasing a target of 176, SRH were dealt two early blows with Pat Cummins removing Abhishek Sharma and Andre Russell dismissing Kane Williamson. But that was where KKR’s bowling attack folded. 

Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi took charge for a brilliant 94-run fourth-wicket partnership to take SRH closer to victory. Rahul Tripathi slammed 71 off 37 while Aiden Markram smashed 68 off 36 to take SRH to 7-wicket victory with three overs to spare.

Earlier, sent to bat, T Natarajan and Umran Malik were SRH’s stars but it didn’t matter. Andre Russell (49 off 25) and Nitish Rana (54 off 36) powered Kolkata Knight Riders to 175/8 with some brilliant hitting.

KKR began poorly with Aaron Finch, Venkatesh Iyer and Sunil Narine departing in quick succession for just 31 runs on board. But Nitish Rana continued the scorecard ticking with some fine shots. Natarajan fought back for SRH, taking three wickets for 31 runs but Andre Russell’s brutal hitting, in the end, meant, SRH now have to chase 176.
