Gautam Gambhir wants India to find Bumrah’s bowling partner, bilateral series irrelevant before T20 WC

Gautam Gambhir asserts bilateral series 6-7 months before T20 World Cup irreleavant, India to find Jasprit Bumrah's bowling partner

The India Cricket Team is currently facing South Africa for a long tour. But with the 2024 T20 World Cup on the horizon, India’s death bowling needs proper rework. Former India star batter Gautam Gambhir has emphasised how these bilateral series 6-7 months before the World Cup doesn’t hold much relevance.

Jasprit Bumrah will be spearheading India’s pace attack in the T20 World Cup. With India’s death bowling still rusty and needs some important improvements ahead of the big stage, Gambhir suggest now is the time to be monitored.

“A bilateral series 6-7 months before the World Cup doesn’t carry much relevance. India would want to test their bowlers. You’d want to see how strong your death-overs bowling is. Who can be the one more option with Jasprit Bumrah when the T20 World Cup comes? These things need to be more carefully monitored than results,” Gautam Gambhir told Star Sports.

The former Indian ace batter has claimed that bilateral series, 6-7 months before the World Cup doesn’t hold much relevance as it won’t reflect the true nature and progress of a team.

Gautam Gambhir also emphasised on which bowler would be the ideal death bowling pair with Jasprit Bumrah. Currently, India are 1-0 down in the 3-match T20I series. The Men in Blue will be hoping to put up a good show and be back on level terms. After the SA series, India has only 3 T20I matches left to play against Afghanistan before the mega tournament.
