The England Cricket Board (ECB) has announced its squad for the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies, with no exemptions granted to players currently participating in IPL 2025. The three-match ODI series is set to begin on May 29, followed by a three-match T20I series starting on June 6. This decision means that England’s IPL-bound players, including Jos Buttler, Will Jacks, and Jacob Bethell, will have to return for national duty, potentially missing the IPL playoffs.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had initially issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for players to participate in the IPL until May 25, the original date of the final. However, with the tournament now extended until June 3, the ECB has confirmed that these NOCs will not be revised, ensuring full availability for the West Indies series. This move reinforces England’s commitment to prioritizing international fixtures over franchise cricket.
The squad sees Harry Brook take charge as England’s new white-ball captain, replacing Jos Buttler. The ODI squad includes key players such as Jofra Archer, Joe Root, Adil Rashid, and Jamie Overton, while the T20I squad features Phil Salt, Rehan Ahmed, and Liam Dawson.
