IND vs ENG Test: Geoffrey Boycott criticises England's batting failure after Test series loss to India

Sir Geoffrey Boycott has claimed that England has failed with Bazball on two different occasions. First a draw in the Ashes series and now a 3-1 loss to India, which marked England’s first Test series loss with Bazball approach. He claimed that England should be hurt knowing that they had a chance of beating both their adversaries.

India etched out a sensational 3-1 win in the IND vs ENG Ranchi Test to secure the series. While England took the lead by winning the Hyderabad Test, the hosts came back strongly to win at Vizag, Rajkot and Ranchi to secure the series. The victory at Ranchi ensured England’s maiden Test series loss in Bazball era.

Bazball has given Test cricket a shot in the arm and England deserve praise for that. At times, I love it. But I love winning more and England have failed to beat the best two teams in the world: Australia and now India. What should really hurt them is that they should have beaten both,” Geoffrey Boycott wrote in The Telegraph.

The former English legend claimed that Bazball has surely entertained fans. But Boycott has slammed England’s batting. He has claimed that the batting has costed both the series against Australia and England.

The batting cost them winning the Ashes and it lost them the series against India. In this series they have had odd moments when someone has scored a good hundred. But they have been in isolation and there has been no consistency. Zak Crawley is the one England player averaging over 40. Six of the Indian players have averages higher than 43,” Boycott concluded.
