It turned out to be quite an interesting Sunday for the last two league matches of IPL 2024. With the top four sealed after CSK were knocked out on Saturday, it all came down to who would occupy the second and third position. While SRH climbed to the second position after beating PBKS, RR were left stranded in the third position as rain washed out their game against KKR.

Now, the focus shifts on the four games left in IPL 2024 – Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and the finals. KKR will take on SRH in Q1 while RR will take on RCB in the Eliminator. On that note, let’s take a look at the top headlines from the double header on Sunday.

Tough luck, RR

In an interesting turn of events, RR – who were on top of the table after 10 matches – haven’t won a single game in May. On the other hand, RCB haven’t lost a single match in the month of May. RR lost four out of their last five games while the last match was abandoned due to rain. RCB, who looked like they were knocked out of the tournament at the halfway stage, won six games on the trot to finish in the top four and storm into the playoffs.

Hitman loses cool

Former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has broken his silence on the controversial clip leaked by the broadcasters ahead of the game against KKR. The clip saw the Hitman having a conversation with Abhishek Nayyar, with the discussion clearly audible. Taking to X, Rohit slammed the broadcasters for not respecting privacy by recording every step and conversation of the player.

Abhishek Sharma – remember the name

 Abhishek Sharma smashed 39 sixes, surpassing Virat Kohli, who has 38 hits in the bank in IPL 2024. Sharma, who is going through a purple patch with his bat in IPL 2024. He surpassed Virat Kohli after playing an impressive innings of 66 runs in 28 balls against the Punjab Kings, where he smashed six sixes in his innings.

Where are your manners RCB fans?

RCB fans allegedly misbehaved with CSK fans outside the M Chinnaswamy stadium after the hosts qualified for the IPL Playoffs. Bengaluru fans were called out on social media for harassing and intimidating CSK fans outside the stadium after the win. 

RCB vs CSK hero’s touching conversation with his mother

Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Yash Dayal’s mother detailed on her conversation with her son after RCB sealed their spot in IPL 2024 playoffs. Dayal held his nerves to bowl the perfect last over that saw\w his side win their 6th consecutive win. Both Dayal’s mother and father expressed happiness over his performance, adding that his hard work had paid off.

Rayudu ain’t ready for Thala’s departure

 Ambati Rayudu couldn’t hide his emotions as Ruturaj Gaikwad and co. were knocked out of IPL 2024. CSK failed to win a do-or-die match against RCB at M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, leading to their exit from the tournament. A dejected Rayudu was seen sitting alone with his head in his hands after CSK’s loss, the video of which has gone viral.
