Last IPL? Rohit Sharma drops ‘change’ bombshell in conversation with Abhishek Nayar

Rohit Sharma was replaced as the Mumbai Indians skipper with Hardik Pandya ahead of IPL 2024, sparking concerns over Hitman's future

It looks like former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is all set to retire from IPL after the end of the current season. A conversation with KKR’s Abhishek Nayar, in a now deleted video, sees the Hitman telling the latter that it would be his last. MI will take on KKR at the Eden Gardens on Saturday. It is to be noted that the conversation between the two doesn’t clearly indicate if the discussuon is around the IPL or otherwise.

Rohit Sharma to call it quits from IPL?

In the conversation, Rohit is heard telling Nayar that evey single thing seems to be changing and that while it was upon them, it was him who built that team as a divine space. He further goes on to say that it will be his last, KKR deleted the video soon after posting it on their social media channels.

Rohit Sharma was replaced as the Mumbai Indians skipper with Hardik Pandya ahead of 2024. The Hitman was responsible for the franchise to lift a record five titles, which only CSK have achieved under the leadership of MS Dhoni. However, Sharma seems to be struggling in his batting despite giving up captaincy. So far, Rohit Sharma has managed to score only 330 runs in 12 innings in IPL 2024 so far.

Overall, the Indian skipper has looked out of touch in the IPL and this could potentially haunt India in the marquee tournament.
