Another day where injury and fitness updates were the main topic of discussion. MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are nearing match fitness, but one of them has decided against playing. Lungi Ngidi suffered a freak injury but is luckily doing fine. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continues to tumble records. KL Rahul’s historic innings was overshadowed by Shreyas Iyer’s team’s performance.

MS Dhoni not playing

MS Dhoni is fit but has decided against playing. Reports had suggested that the wicketkeeper would feature in the CSK vs GT match. But Dhoni won’t play his first IPL 2026 game on April 26. CSK are building steam, having won 3 of their last 4 matches. Dhoni doesn’t want to disrupt the team’s balance and will sit out.

Rohit Sharma injury update

Rohit Sharma could play the SRH vs MI match on April 29. The former MI captain had sustained a hamstring injury on April 12 and has already missed 3 matches. Rohit has been training for a while now, but hasn’t been able to reach match fitness. In his absence, Danish Malewar has been opening the batting.

Lungi Ngidi safe after head injury

Lungi Ngidi sustained a head injury during the DC vs PBKS match in Delhi. Attempting to take a running back catch, the fast bowler hit his head on the ground. Play was halted, with an ambulance entering the ground and Ngidi getting stretchered out. Luckily, he is stable and will be discharged soon.

Sooryavanshi creates T20 record

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has become the fastest batter to score 1,000 runs in T20 cricket. In the process of scoring the 3rd fastest IPL hundred, from 36 balls, the 15-year-old reached the milestone. Sooryavanshi required just 473 deliveries to get there, breaking Mitchell Owen’s record by a margin of 60 balls.

KL Rahul joins Gayle & McCullum

KL Rahul has become the first Indian batter to cross the 150-run mark in the IPL. The wicketkeeper ended unbeaten on 152 off 67 as DC posted 264 on the board. He struck 9 sixes and 16 fours, scoring 57% of the runs. Rahul also became the 5th highest scorer in the IPL, going past Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni.

PBKS’ record-breaking chase

Despite Rahul’s fireworks, PBKS managed to win the match. They record the highest successful run chase in the history of T20 cricket. Prabhsimran Singh led the way, scoring an 18-ball fifty with Priyansh Arya and Shreyas Iyer not far behind. As a result, PBKS chased down 265 with 7 balls to spare.
