April 14 seemed to be an injury update and replacement day in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. We got a Mayank Yadav and Lockie Ferguson fitness update. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have named replacements for Ruturaj Gaikwad and Adam Zampa. MS Dhoni turned back the clock against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain was likened to Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

Mayank Yadav ready for IPL 2025

Mayank Yadav has been given a clean bill of health by the Centre of Excellence. The express pacer has been suffering from injury since mid-October last year. He was expected to play for LSG, but a toe injury derailed his path to full fitness. Luckily for LSG, he might be available for the next match against the Rajasthan Royals.

CSK find Ruturaj Gaikwad’s replacement

CSK have found a replacement for their injured captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. The 5-time champions have brought in Ayush Mhatre. The 17-year-old batter from Mumbai had attended CSK’s pre-season camp in November last year but wasn’t sold in the IPL 2025 auction. He attended another CSK camp less than two weeks ago and might join them before the Mumbai Indians clash.

He smashed boundaries all over the park, and his 26 (11) innings earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award.

Patidar = Kohli + Dhoni

Rajat Patidar’s former Madhya Pradesh teammate Devendra Bundela thinks that his style of captaincy is a mixture of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. Bundela added that he sees the calmness that Dhoni brings in Patidar and also Kohli’s aggression and hunger to win in the RCB captain.

Lockie Ferguson out of IPL 2025?

After CSK and SRH, PBKS might have also lost a player to injury. Lockie Ferguson, who got injured against Sunrisers Hyderabad after bowling just two balls, might not take further part in the league. PBKS bowling coach thinks that Lockie’s chances of recovering before the end of the group stage are very slim.
