Do the Delhi Capitals still have a chance to qualify for the IPL 2024 Playoffs?

Last year, the Delhi Capitals managed to win just one of their opening six matches and ended up with just five wins in the entire season. Can they change things up this season and storm back into the IPL playoffs after 3 years?

The Delhi Capitals’ chance of making the IPL 2024 Playoffs has taken a hit. The Rishabh Pant-led team was placed in the 6th spot on the points table and had a chance to move to 2nd place. But a 7-wicket defeat at the hands of the Kolkata Knight Riders means that they’ll remain where they were before the match.

How the Delhi Capitals can qualify for the IPL 2024 Playoffs

As of now, they have played 11 matches and have just 5 wins (10 points) to their name. Last season, the four teams that qualified had 20, 17, 17, and 16 points, respectively. One might think that, given this trend, the Delhi Capitals would have to win all of the remaining matches. However, just three seasons ago (2021), the Kolkata Knight Riders made the IPL 2024 playoffs after securing just 7 wins (14 points) from 14 matches.

Any hope left for the Delhi Capitals?

2 of the 3 remaining matches for Rishabh Pant and Co. will be at their home. Their next match is a tough one, as they face the Rajasthan Royals, the top-ranked side in the IPL 2024 season. If all things go right, by May 12, we might find the Delhi Capitals with 7 wins from 13 matches. This could mean that they could still qualify for the IPL 2024 Playoffs without a win.
