Dale Steyn predicts England to be winners of Test series vs India with 3-2 score line

Ex-South African pacer Dale Steyn has picked England as the winners of the upcoming 5-match Test series against India

Former South African pacer Dale Steyn has picked England as the winners in the upcoming Test series against India. The five-match series, which will commence from June 20 onwards, will mark the start of a new World Test Championship cycle for both sides. Steyn’s remarks came in a discussion following South Africa’s win against Australia to win their maiden WTC mace.

Steyn picks England over India

In a discussion on JioHotstar, Steyn opined that there would be no game without a result, and predicted that all matches may be close. The former Proteas pacer claimed that the score line would read 3-2 in favour of England.

All games will be close. But all will have a result. I think it will be 3-2 in favour of England. There will be a result in every Test match. There will be no run away win for any team, all five games will be very close,” Steyn said.

England have won 15 out of 20 matches played at home under coach Brendon McCullum. They enjoy a win rate of 75%, having lost just four times and with one game ending in a draw.

Meanwhile, the series against England surely won’t be a cakewalk for India. Firstly, the team has entered a new era under the captaincy of young Shubman Gill after Rohit’s decision to step away. Secondly, the team will be playing a Test for the first time in over a decade without Rohit or Virat being a part of the side. The veteran duo took everyone by surprise in May by abruptly announcing their retirement from Test cricket.

India vs England 1st Test will be held at Headingly, Leeds and will commence from June 20 onwards.
