To be in CSK bowler Mukesh Choudhary‘s shoes, will perhaps be the most difficult thing in the world. It was just days back that the 29-year-old lost his mother, and here he is, on Thursday, turning up for his team against MI at the Wankhede Stadium. At a time when he might be yet to recover from the shock, he started his spell in an absolutely fiery fashion, getting the wicket of Quinton de Kock, and then remembering the mother, as a part of the celebration.
Mukesh displays grit to push MI on back foot
The incident, however small it may be, meant a lot to Mukesh. The event happened in the second over of MI chase, where the crafty bowler first came up with four dots to de Kock, and then induced an edge, with the ball chopping the stumps. As Mukesh ran towards the other players, he could barely contain the tears, and looked to the heavens.
As per a report in Dainik Bhaskar, Mukesh had gone back to his home on Saturday itself, to meet his mother, right after the CSK vs SRH match. Post the unfortunate passing, he joined the camp on the eve of the MI encounter, making a bold statement, that he would fight and overcome the loss.
Pays tribute to late mother
Meanwhile, CSK team wore black armbands to pay a tribute to their fellow player’s mother. CSK’s official handle on X posted, “This one is for Mukesh’s mother. In her memory and in solidarity with Mukesh, we wear black armbands and play with a little more in our hearts today.” In fact, as per a report in OneIndia, CSK veteran MS Dhoni was in constant touch with the bowler, enquiring about the well-being of his mother.
As far as the CSK vs MI match is concerned, Mukesh bowled his heart out, and returned with figures of 1/31 in his 4 overs, impressing with line-length, and speed as well. On a pitch where Chennai scored 207, Mumbai were pushed back a bit, due to this spell of miserly bowling.
