CSK vs RCB Players availability: Defending champs to start IPL 2024 sans Pathirana, Conway

CSK vs RCB: Defending champions CSK will kick-off their IPL 2024 campaign without the services of some of their premium players

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2024 opener on March 22. CSK will head into the first game with some of their stars missing out owing to injuries. Meanwhile, RCB look poised to enter the tournament with full strength. Ahead of the first game, let us take a look at the availability of players for both sides.

CSK injured players and their availability

The first blow that CSK suffered was opener Devon Conway’s injury. The New Zealand opener suffered a thumb injury during the series against Australia. As a result, Conway is expected to miss the initial stage of IPL 2024 and is not expected to join CSK until May.

Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana will also miss the initial stage of IPL. Pathirana sustained an hamstring injury during a game against Bangladesh. He will join CSK’s squad only after he recieves a no-objection certificate from Sri Lanka Cricket Board. This means CSK will have to kick-start their campaign without the services of the pacer.

All-rounder Shivam Dube may miss the first game against RCB. Dube suffered an injury during the Ranji Trophy. While he has joined the CSK camp, it remains to be seen if he will be taking the field.
