Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Saturday succumbed to their 4th defeat in 5 matches of IPL 2024 when Rajasthan Royals beat them by six wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Chasing 183, RR reached their target with five balls to spare. RCB coach Andy Flower after the game talked about various issues ranging from Virat Kohli’s blistering from to where they went wrong in the match.
We should have got above 200: Flower
I thought we were a little late on the runs to be honest. If you look at our runs, we were 107 for no loss after 12 overs. I thought we should have got above 200 from that position to be honest. However, we started well with the ball. Topley, Yash and Siraj were excellent. Then, the last over of powerplay cost us a bit of momentum,” Flower said, when asked about what went wrong in their batting on Saturday.
Kohli and Buttler oozing class
The RR vs RCB was one of those rare matches that saw centuries being scored from both teams. While Virat Kohli slammed his first ton of IPL 2024, Jos Buttler ensured RR took the 3 points home.
“Two classy innings from Virat and Buttler. They got their thrill of classy batting that’s for sure,” he said.
When he was asked about whether Virat deserves a place in India’s T20 World Cup, he declined to comment.
“Virat played a classy innings and it was really beautiful to watch. I wouldn’t want to comment on Indian selection. I don’t know what they’re thinking. They’ve got an abundance of riches, and he is right at the top of those abundance,” he said.

‘Tough position to be in’
RCB have only one win out of five matches, and that is something that is worrying the former Zimbabwean batter.
“We’re one wins out of five. That’s a tough position to be in. Yes we’ve got some issues with our batting. We’ve got Virat in great form but the other guys are struggling a bit for form and confidence. We’re trying to do everything we can to make them feel strong and confident,” he said.
